Australia will not place sanctions on Fiji

Vinaka Australia, did China get you a bit worried? This is definitely a step in the right direction.

Australia will not place sanctions Tuesday 21 April, 2009

Australia and New Zealand have suddenly taken a soft approach to the country’s political situation saying they will not impose any sanctions apart from that already in place. Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said they were not considering any sanctions against the country as it would only affect the general public. His comments came after the Fijian community in Australia called for more sanctions to be placed upon the current government. “We are not proposing to introduce sanctions which have the impact of adversely impacting on the Fijian people themselves,” Smith said.
